Dr Esbeth van Dyk

Dr Esbeth van Dyk is a principal supply chain analyst, specialising in agricultural supply chains and agro-logistics.

Current activities and research interests

  • Agro-logistics and supply chains, including both large commercial supply chains as well as those of small-scale farmers in various agricultural sectors
  • Export supply chains, including ports and port processes
  • Transport and logistics operations modelling.

Van Dyk has fifteen years of experience in studies and contract research related to logistics and supply chains. She has specialised in agricultural supply chains for the past seven years. Other focus areas include the development of sustainable rural transport and logistical solutions for the emerging sector. Previously, she executed a number of projects related to transportation, distribution, facility location and optimal resource allocation. Prior to joining the CSIR, Esbeth was a senior lecturer at the Department of Logistics, University of Stellenbosch. Her international experience includes projects in the UK, Switzerland, Canada, the Netherlands, Zambia and Tanzania.
