CSIR Modelling and Digital Science

Through this new unit, the CSIR is enhancing its capacity to deliver on its mandate by increasing its focus on advanced mathematical modelling and simulation, information security, mobile intelligent autonomous systems, as well as artificial and computational intelligence.

The unit seeks to contribute to and leverage knowledge about physics and mathematics as embedded in both natural and man-made systems, engineering ingenuity and the rapidly advancing ICT infrastructure in order to build expertise and technological innovations with the sole purpose of improving quality of life. The start-up core of the new unit will comprise the following competency areas:

Dr Motodi Maserumule is CSIR Modelling and Digital Science’s Executive Director. He obtained his PhD in mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, with concentrations in fluid mechanics, methods of applied mathematics and partial differential equations.
