The International Centre for the Prevention of Crime (ICPC) has changed the dates of its upcoming 15th anniversary, as a result of the high volume of international events and a large congress taking place in Montreal in October. Barbara Holtmann of CSIR Defence, Peace, Safety and Security is vice-president of the ICPC.
According to conference organisers, the high number of events will place severe restrictions and limitations on the availability of international flights and hotel accommodation. The 15th anniversary has therefore been moved to take place from 7 to 9 December 2009 at the Centre Mont-Royal, Montreal, Canada. The theme of the conference is Crime Prevention Across the World: Taking Stock, Evaluation, and Future Perspectives.
Over the last 15 years, the ICPC has been at the heart of an international movement aimed at promoting research-based policies and practices that work to prevent crime and build community safety. To mark its 15th anniversary, the ICPC will focus on the evolution of crime prevention policy and practice.
