Infrared Mobile Laboratory (IRML)

The IRML (Infrared mobile laboratory) is used during field deployments for a variety of measurements.

The IRML consist of a field deployable container that is road transportable. The system has a tracking platform that is controlled from inside. The tracking platform has a total of azimuth rotation of 720 deg, and a elevation range of -10 to 80degrees. There are three modes of tracking available for the tracking platform. Manual track, where an operator steers the platform with a joystick control. Optical auto track: Once the operator has acquired a target, auto track mode are selected and the optical tracker will track the target. Slave mode: the system can be slaved to another tracking system that track the target.

A visual zoom camera and an eye-safe laser range finder are mounted on the tracking platform. The video output is used by the operator and the auto track system to track targets. A variety of equipments such as IR imagers in Near IR, Middle IR and Long wave IR spectral bands is integrated with the IRML and can be installed, depending on the requirements of the test. IR threats can also integrated with the IRML. The IRML is used during field trails to measure IR signatures of air platforms and decoys.
