CSIR continues to build a unified, knowledge-driven, science-based
capacity that supports government in finding knowledge &
science-driven, innovative solutions to the problems of
crime and violence in the achievement of a safe South Africa.
This research competency is uniquely positioned to provide
multi-disciplinary and integrated science and technology
support to national crime prevention as well as crime combating
initiatives and role players.This is enabled by strategic
safety and security domain knowledge and innovative problem
solving around the key issues affecting the safety and security
of the people of the country.
Science and technology impact is achieved through strategically-directed,
focused research and innovation. Stakeholder impact is achieved
through technology partnerships to improve core functions
in the criminal justice system and related government departments.National
impact is achieved through strategy and policy research
into systems understanding and systemic solutions.
