CSIR researchers converge at GEO summit
Ministers and officials from over 100 governments and international organisations assembled in Cape Town on 28-30 November 2007 to advance an internationally-agreed plan for building a Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). The Group on Earth Observations is coordinating efforts to build this GEOSS.
Science impacts on society
Science and technology (S&T) has the ability to empower society. It is integral to issues such as fighting poverty and unemployment, health, alternative energy sources, service delivery and sustainable development. The latest edition of the CSIR's external quarterly publication, ScienceScope, is themed 'Science for society', focusing on the direct impact that S&T can have on improving the quality of life of people.
