Focus on wireless mesh research
This edition covers recent events and developments related to the wireless mesh research conducted at the Meraka Institute of the CSIR. These include a partnership agreement between the Department of Communications (DoC), the Meraka Institute and the University of Zululand, in an attempt to develop technology solutions for rural populations on the African continent; the accreditation of the Siyakhula Living Lab as an affiliated member of the European Network of Living Labs; and a visit by the representative of the Wireless World Research Forum, Vino Vinodrai.

An announcement on 25 November 2008 at a gala event in Lyon, France, during Europe's leading ICT research event, ICT 2008, has seen South African Living Labs acknowledged as affiliated members of the European Network of Living Labs (EnoLL) as part of its 'Third Wave'.
