CSIR does model studies for multi-billion dollar port development
The CSIR's hydraulics laboratory in Stellenbosch is conducting physical model studies for the development of a multi-billion dollar port in the United Arab Emirates. The Khalifa Port, located between the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, forms part of one of the largest multi-purpose maritime facilities in the world, covering an area of 2,2 km².
CSIR tool to boost sustainability of unique industrial park
A tool developed by the CSIR will be used to assess the sustainability of building projects on Gauteng's first environmentally friendly and ecosensitively planned light industrial development.
CSIR and City of Johannesburg set to improve road safety
The City of Johannesburg and the CSIR have signed a joint venture agreement for the development of a ward-based community road safety initiative. The purpose of the project is to develop a programme to facilitate ward road safety performance benchmarking, monitoring and intervention.
Building and construction research boosted by agreement with leading Dutch centre
In what promises to be a productive partnership, the CSIR concluded a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in March 2008 with the Centre for Process Innovation in Building and Construction (CPIBC) in the Netherlands.
CSIR expert to serve on editorial advisory board of development journal
An expert in infrastructure asset management, Dr Kevin Wall of CSIR Built Environment, has been invited to serve for a three-year term on the editorial advisory board of the Development Southern Africa (DSA) journal. The DSA journal is a peer-reviewed, academic journal, sponsored by the Development Bank of Southern Africa.
