CSIR pledges free earth observation data for Africa
As the newly elected chair of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites, the CSIR Satellite Applications Centre has committed to delivering remote sensing data from the China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite (CBERS) programme at no cost to all African countries 5° south of the equator.
Bumper number of satellite supports at Hartebeesthoek site
Expertise, experience and extraordinary levels of commitment were in high demand at the CSIR Satellite Applications Centre during December 2007 when its launch team was called to provide support for three satellites.
A caucus on remote sensing capabilities
In a historic first-ever event, the CSIR Satellite Applications Centre proactively sought consultation and discourse with stakeholders and industry regarding requirements for its future satellite sensor portfolio. This two-day event took place on 14-15 March 2008 at the CSIR's Hartebeesthoek site.
