Conclusion of project heralds new navigation opportunities for southern Africa
The signs of an emerging regional navigation market are clearly visible, contends Eugene Avenant of the CSIR Satellite Applications Centre. Avenant was commenting on next steps following the successful conclusion of the African Satellite Communication and Galileo Application project.
CSIR experts meet with peers at Landsat workgroup meeting
Representatives of Landsat ground stations worldwide converged on Washington, DC, in March 2008 for the 17th Landsat Technical Workgroup Meeting. South Africa's ground station was represented by earth observation specialist Helmut Neumann and system administrator Rina Gremels of the CSIR Satellite Applications Centre.
Young enthusiasts get a taste of space S&T
Space science and technology (S&T) came alive for three learners who paid a visit to the CSIR Satellite Applications Centre during the recent autumn school holidays. The innovative science ideas of these three as demonstrated in a school project have ensured them a trip to Houston, Texas, in July 2009.
