Research papers enjoy international acclaim
Three recently-produced research papers from the CSIR's aeronautic
systems area are receiving local and international acclaim and one has
scooped the prestigious ICAS McCarthy Award for best presentation. The
other two are also considered worthy of awards by publishers.

CSIR landward sciences ballistics experts, Dr Frikkie Mostert and Dr
Izak Snyman, observe that higher energy or more efficient energetic
materials in weapon systems are increasingly being used worldwide.
The scientists revealed this upon their return from the 24th International Symposium on Ballistics where they presented a paper. |

In an effort to enhance humanitarian demining, non-governmental organisations worldwide and countries affected by unexploded ordnance met at a three-day workshop in Arlington, Virginia, USA. CSIR researcher Theo van Dyk attended the event at the invitation of the United States Department of Defence (DoD).
