Laser output achievement elicits international interest
The CSIR National Laser Centre recently achieved the highest published laser output values from a Tm:YLF slab laser (225 Watt); and the highest pulse energy from a fibre-pumped single frequency Ho:YLF laser. This development has resulted in international interest from a range of role-players and academia.
Stellenbosch University honours three CSIR laser scientists
Identified for their calibre as researchers and their impressive track record, three CSIR National Laser Centre scientists, Drs Andrew Forbes, Lourens Botha and Anton du Plessis, have been appointed extraordinary staff members at the Laser Research Institute (LRI); part of the University of Stellenbosch's Physics Department.
Satellite derived temperature measurements at polar latitudes inaccurate
