CSIR manager re-elected chair of African Laser Centre Board

CSIR National Laser Centre Manager, Dr Thulani Dlamini, was recently re-elected as the chairperson of the board of directors of the African Laser Centre (ALC) at the organisation's second annual general meeting (AGM), hosted by the University of Zambia in Lusaka. The newly-elected board will serve for a period of two years.

The meeting was officially opened by the Zambian Minister of Science and Technology, the Honourable Peter Daka. The recently-appointed Chief Executive Officer of the ALC, Professor Aboubaker Beye, presented a draft operational plan to members. The AGM was followed by a members' meeting, where researchers presented their research that is funded by ALC grants. A laser training school was held prior to the AGM, attended by postgraduate physics students of the University of Zambia.
