CSIR Materials Science and Manufacturing

Aerospace Industry Support Initiative

The AISI is a programme funded by the Department of Trade and Industry with objectives to:

  • enhance the global competitiveness of the South African aerospace industry
  • provide an institutional platform to facilitate partnerships and innovation between Government, industry and academia
  • identify, develop, support and promote the interest and capabilities of the aerospace industry to accelerate the achievement of Government strategic objectives including growth, employment and equity.

CSIR co-ordinates and promotes the complete aerospace value chain and enhances the process of technology advancement into the industry. It also manages and develops the required processes for the Space Affairs Council and has started to manage cardinal projects on behalf of the state.
