Nonwovens and Composites

The Nonwovens and Composites research group focuses on research and development in nonwovens, fibre reinforced composites, biocomposites, biopolymers, nanocomposites and nanofibres for a wide range of applications.

Through mutually beneficial agreements with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, a sustainable nonwovens and composites industry in southern Africa is promoted. The research group is involved in various projects with the local and international industries for the application of nonwoven and composite materials in aerospace, automotive, building and construction and packaging industries.

The research group is engaged in several science and technology bilateral and trilateral projects with countries like the USA, UK, Sweden, Hungary, Poland, India, China, Germany and Brazil.
