“I’ve had the opportunity to meet some of the specialists in this field from other countries, and have learned a lot from their expertise and experience”

– Rayeesa Ahmed, CSIR mechanical engineer

Engineering and built environment

An idea becomes a product through research and development and, subsequently, manufacturing. Systematic planning, design, and arrangement of processing methods and equipment involve knowledge of equipment tool design, operation sequencing, worker/machine interaction, processing procedures, facilities and plant layout.

The career opportunities in the fields of engineering, electrical technology, mechanical or civil technology at the CSIR are endless. It ranges from materials handling systems, robotic systems to automated metrologywind engineering.

But these are only a few of the exciting CSIR career directions that involve engineering and technology. While CSIR aeronautical engineers are designing and testing aircraft, missiles, satellites and other systems; microfluidics engineers are developing devices that can channel fluid flows a thousand times smaller than in a common droplet. Metallurgyical-, radio frequency, mining – any engineering professional you can think of, apply their special skills at the CSIR.
