Dr Adnan M. Abu-Mahfouz
Abu-Mahfouz’s research interests lie in wireless sensor and actuator networks, low-power wide-area networks, software-defined wireless sensor networks, cognitive radio, network security, network management and sensor/actuator node development. His current focus is on smart water management systems.
Abu-Mahfouz received his MEng and PhD degrees in computer engineering from the University of Pretoria. He is a CSIR principal researcher and Research and Innovation Associate at the Tshwane University of Technology, and Extraordinary faculty member at the University of Pretoria. His research interests are wireless sensor and actuator networks, low-power wide-area networks, software-defined wireless sensor networks, cognitive radio, network security, network management, sensor/actuator node development, as well as smart grid and smart water systems. Abu-Mahfouz is an associate editor at IEEE Access. He is the principal investigator of a large multidisciplinary collaborative project focusing on the development of a smart water management system. Abu-Mahfouz is the founder of the Smart Networks collaboration initiative that aims to develop efficient and secure networks for future smart systems, such as smart cities, smart grids and smart water grids.
