Dr Gugulethu Mabuza-Hocquet

CSIR research group leader

Mabuza-Hocquet’s interests are leading research groups to produce ground-breaking research, development an innovation in the areas of electronic countermeasures, surveillance and physical security for the modern era. The intention is to localise and commercialise CSIR technologies for absorption in South Africa and globally.

Full Profile

Mabuza-Hocquet holds a PhD (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) from the University of Johannesburg. She joined the CSIR in 2011 as a PhD candidate. She is the research group leader for surveillance and countermeasure systems. She has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, especially on iris biometric methods for identity authentication of both adults and children.
