We regret to inform you that the CSIR strategy launch and brand unveiling event which was scheduled for Friday, 20 March 2020 has been cancelled.

The cancellation of the event is a result of precautionary measures that the CSIR is implementing in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak and its escalation in South Africa in the past week.

The maritime industry has the potential to make a significant contribution to poverty reduction and human welfare, as well as provide economic opportunities to benefit South Africans. This is taking into consideration that South Africa has more ocean space, including its exclusive economic zone, than land area.

To realise the sustainable industrialisation of the oceans to the benefit of all, the CSIR is seeking partners to fund a South African Maritime Industry Baseline Study. This foundational study is critical to South Africa’s participation in the global maritime arena. Read more...

The BIDC is a CSIR initiative, in partnership with the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) and BioPark @ Gauteng (The Innovation Hub) would like to support Small, Medium and Micro-sized Enterprises (SMMEs) in the bio-manufacturing sector, with the aim of creating or expanding bio-manufacturing activity and associated job creation. CSIR and BioPark will partner to deliver a full package to SMMEs, as part of the mentorship programme.
