An innovative pharmacy automation robot for medicine dispensing will be showcased at the Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) ManuVation 4.0 Workshop, taking place at the CSIR ICC in Pretoria, on 25 and 26 February 2019.

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research has partnered with Right ePharmacy, a company that dispenses, distributes and collects medication, to develop business opportunities and innovations so that medicines can be dispensed digitally, in a more cost-effective, convenient and accurate way.

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) would like to inform all its stakeholders of a power outage at its Scientia Campus in Pretoria. This is a result of damage caused by a lightning strike to the campus’s main transformers last night.

Due to the outage, some of the organisation’s operations have been affected, however a business continuity plan has been instituted to ensure the smooth running of critical services and infrastructure during this period.

The CSIR and the IEEE ComSoc hosted a workshop, including an expert panel, on how software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualisation (NFV) will impact the development of 5G. The aim of the session was to bring together expert engineers and researchers from the South African industry and academia who work in the telecommunications field.
