The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has developed a "novel liver toxicity model which aims to predict best treatment outcome for patients in Africa". This synthetic biology technology will inform a digital precision medicine platform which can help predict the adverse effects of drugs based on unique African genetics.

It will further provide information for the molecular redesign of pharmaceutical compounds tailored to the African population, as well as digitized pharmacovigilance in the region. The CSIR wishes to identify organisations with the relevant capability and track record, who are interested in evaluating the technology for future licensing and commercialisation.
