Ruth Teleka

Teleka manages the provision of quality mechanical engineering testing and technical services to the mining and engineering industries and provides high-level engineering expertise to address client needs.

Full Profile

Teleka joined the CSIR in 2003 and plays a leading role in the management of the rope and mechanical testing facilities. The main focus of the CSIR’s Mining Testing and Training area is mine safety and statutory testing of winder ropes. The laboratories under Teleka’s management feature South Africa’s largest scale testing machine, with loading capacity and longest sample sizes. Teleka has authored numerous technical papers on the testing of mechanical components and systems. In addition, she authored and co-authored numerous papers on the stability of hanging walls.
