Aradhna Pandarum

CSIR Acting research group leader

 Pandarum’s work focuses on the Just Energy Transition in South Africa and the required energy industry support for economic growth and enterprise development in South Africa.

Full Profile

Pandarum joined the CSIR in 2022 as a senior researcher and soon accepted an acting position as research group lead for the energy industry team. She holds a BSc Honours in electronic engineering and is currently finalising her MSc in electrical engineering. She is also registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa. She has extensive research experience in the  renewable energy field, with a specific focus on embedded generation and its technical, economical, operational and environmental impacts. She now performs and manages research work related to the Just Energy Transition and associated impacts to ensure that it is just, thereby, creating opportunities for the energy industry in South Africa.

Expertise: Electrical engineering, Renewable technologies, Power system analysis, Design and economics of renewables, Techno-economic modelling, Just Energy Transition impacts, Small-scale embedded generation impacts.
