Hosted Sector Initiatives

Poverty reduction, economic growth and job creation are key national priorities. The departments of Trade and Industry, Science and Technology, and others require capacity assistance in the establishment and management of a number of programmes and initiatives designed to support these priorities. The CSIR is able to assist and host a variety of government-funded programmes to provide support for the development and growth of industry in a variety of sectors.

A platform for shared biosciences research, development and innovation to address health and nutrition issues in southern Africa.

The Applied Centre for Climate & Earth System Science

A consortium of several agencies, research councils, research programmes, universities and research groups.

The Climate Technology Centre and Network

The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) is the operational arm of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s technology mechanisms. It aims to accelerate the transfer of climate change mitigation and adaptation technologies to developing countries. The CSIR is a CTCN consortium partner, providing many opportunities for research in Africa.
