The head of the CSIR Energy Research Centre, Dr Thabo Hlalele, led the discussion with the Flux50 members. The topics centred around areas of collaboration and energy. Several areas were identified and separate engagements for further collaboration were established, most notably on the thermal storage side. There were also discussions around energy trading. Charting the future of science, technology and innovation (STI), the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) jointly hosted a workshop on the Decadal Plan from 22 to 23 November 2021. This workshop, which took place at the CSIR’s Knowledge Commons, with key CSIR and DSI drivers, largely focussed on STI priority areas in support of the societal grand challenges.
