Dr Shingirirai Savious Mutanga

CSIR research group leader for climate services

Dr Shingirirai Mutanga’s research interests lie in modelling and understanding global commons, with a special focus on water, food, energy ecosystems nexus and climate change.

Mutanga holds a PhD in Industrial Systems Engineering from the University of Pretoria, an MSc in geo-Information science and Earth observation for environmental modelling and management, obtained from a consortium of four universities: University of Southampton in the United Kingdom, Lund University in Sweden, University of Warsaw in Poland and the International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) in the Netherlands. He is responsible for strategic investment goal setting and the implementation of the research, development and innovation strategy for the CSIR’s climate services research group. He has served on the Special T20 Africa Standing Group for the G20, the BRICS, and the Southern African Steering Committee for Future Earth, Sub regional investment forum and is a member of the Southern African Vulnerability Assessment Committee.
