Nana Arthur

CSIR senior engineer

Arthur’s research interests lie in the area of materials science, with his research activities focused on additive manufacturing, and the use of laser systems for materials processing.

Full Profile

Arthur holds an MSc applied sciences degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Pretoria. He joined the CSIR in 2015, and plays a leading role in a project that considers the application of laser metal deposition techniques for the qualification of the LENS 3D printing system for refurbishment, and metal additive manufacturing of components within the manufacturing industry.

He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, most recently on the microstructural response of Ti6Al4V ELI alloyed with molybdenum by direct energy deposition for improved material performance.
