Professor Sisa Pityana

Professor Sisa Lesley Pityana has been with the CSIR for 22 years. He has been instrumental in developing research programs and facilities at the CSIR National Laser Centre. These facilities include, among others, a world-class laser shock pinning laboratory and 3D printing laser facilities for both research and commercial purposes.

Professor Sisa Lesley Pityana has been with the CSIR for 22 years. He has been instrumental in developing research programs and facilities at the CSIR National Laser Centre. These facilities include, among others, a world-class laser shock pinning laboratory and 3D printing laser facilities for both research and commercial purposes.

Pityana’s area of expertise is laser materials processing, looking into titanium, aluminum, and other materials, such as metal matrix and functionally graded structures, in addition to metal alloys necessary in the aerospace, energy and biomedical sectors.
