Technological solutions to the challenges facing the logistics industry in South Africa will take  centre stage at the inaugural launch of the Young Industrialists Forum (YIF), on Tuesday, 3 March 2020 at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Pretoria.

The YIF is an initiative CSIR and it is designed to provide young researchers and innovators a platform to present solutions to challenges faced by the logistics industry.

This EoI call is targeted at SMMEs entering the biomanufacturing sector to grow and expand biomanufacturing capacity to meet market demands. Biomanufacturing entails the use of bioprocess technology (e.g. fermentation) to produce enzymes, industrial biologics, biopharmaceuticals, proteins, probiotics, bio-control agents and diagnostic reagents. The CSIR and the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) have announced a five-year partnership that will contribute towards the acceleration of technology development and commercialisation in the country.

The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) in Pretoria on Friday, 6 December 2019. Both organisations believe that this partnership will drive and enhance research and development (R&D) outputs across all sectors, and build technology development capacities in South Africa.
