Prof Adnan M. Abu-Mahfouz

Abu-Mahfouz’s research interests lie in wireless sensor and actuator networks, low-power wide-area networks, software-defined wireless sensor networks, cognitive radio, network security, network management and sensor/actuator node development. His current focus is on smart water management systems.

Abu-Mahfouz received his MEng and PhD degrees in computer engineering from the University of Pretoria. He is currently a chief researcher and head of the Emerging Digital Technologies for the fourth Industrial Revolution (EDT4IR) research centre at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Extraordinary Professor at University of Pretoria, Professor Extraordinaire at Tshwane University of Technology and Visiting Professor at University of Johannesburg. He is an associate editor at IEEE Access, IEEE Internet of Things and IEEE Transaction on Industrial Informatics, Senior Member of the IEEE and Member of many IEEE Technical Communities. Abu-Mahfouz is the founder of the Smart Networks collaboration initiative that aims to develop efficient and secure networks for the future smart systems. He published more than 160 peer-reviewed papers.
