Stephen Masete

CSIR senior researcher

Masete’s research focuses on establishing the relationship between processing parameters, microstructure and mechanical properties of metals, composites, and ceramics. He supports internal and external customers in obtaining mechanical properties.

Full Profile

Masete holds an MSc degree in applied science (metallurgy) from the University of Pretoria. He joined the CSIR in 2014 and plays a leading role in the mechanical testing of metals, and ceramics composites. He provides advisory support and services to internal and external customers in obtaining mechanical properties of various materials and parts. In addition, Masete offers advisory support on how processing parameters affect the resultant microstructure which in turn affects the resultant mechanical properties.

He also collaborates with customers in adopting or developing new mechanical testing methods. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed papers and presented at local and international conferences.
