Amy Pieterse

CSIR senior researcher

Pieterse’s research interests focus on research uptake and mainstreaming evidence into local government planning and policy, with specific focus on climate change adaptation and resilience.

Full Profile

Pieterse is a senior researcher in the urban and regional planning research group, and she joined the CSIR in 2014. She is an expert in local government planning, climate change adaptation, policy analysis, spatial planning and analysis, and intergovernmental planning. She holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Town and Regional Planning from the University of Pretoria. Pieterse has experience in working in large and small multidisciplinary teams, conceptualising and developing innovative approaches to address and understand complex urban problems.
