Anton Nahman

Nahman’s main research interests include the economics of environmental policy; the potential for alternative economic models (e.g., the green economy or circular economy) to advance sustainable development; the integration and trade-offs between the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainability; approaches to understanding and changing consumer behaviour; and the development of alternative indicators of wellbeing.

Nahman holds an MSc in environment and development from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. He has 18 years of experience in environmental economics research, applied in a diverse range of areas. These include:

  • Economic valuation of environmental resources and impacts;
  • Incorporation of environmental impacts within social cost-benefit analysis;
  • The economics of pollution and waste management;
  • The development of policy tools and recommendations for integrated waste management and for transitioning towards a green economy/circular economy;
  • The development of decision-support tools and models and
  • Indicator and composite index development.
