Dr Anton Lopis

CSIR senior researcher

Lopis’ main role is to support chemistry and materials science users of high-performance computing, while his research interests entail atomistic modelling (molecular dynamics) of very high temperature molten slag systems in collaboration with the Pyrometallurgy Division at Mintek.

Full Profile

Lopis holds MSc and PhD degrees in chemistry from the University of the Witwatersrand. This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cape Town. His main role at the CSIR is supporting chemistry and materials science users of high-performance computing. His research involves molecular dynamics simulations of high-temperature molten slag systems in collaboration with Mintek. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed papers.
