Dr Jabu Mtsweni appointed as Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University

Research Centre Manager, Dr Jabu Mtsweni has been appointed as a Research Fellow at the Security Institute for Governance and Leadership in Africa (SIGLA), Faculty of Military Science at Stellenbosch University for the period 1 May 2022 to 30 April 2025.

Research Centre Manager, Dr Jabu Mtsweni has been appointed as a Research Fellow at the Security Institute for Governance and Leadership in Africa (SIGLA), Faculty of Military Science at Stellenbosch University for the period 1 May 2022 to 30 April 2025.

Jabu was recognised for his proven specialised expertise and will be involved in the research programmes of the Faculty of Military Science. He will also have access to the use of the University library including the access to its electronic collections.

Jabu’s other notable achievement, among others, includes the Leadership Award bestowed at the 2020 Excellence Awards in recognition for his role in the establishment of the Information and Cyber Security Centre in the Defence and Security cluster which brough together the former Modelling and Digital Science (MDS) and Command, Control and Information Warfare (CCIW) teams.

He led the development of the Centre's strategic framework and within three months the Centre's strategy was ready for implementation, and it was strongly aligned to the CSIR Strategy. Jabu also led by example by crafting the business and operational plan for the Centre and was described as an individual who leads by example and influences everyone in the team to work hard for the success of the CSIR as a whole.
