Spatial Information Systems

The CSIR’s spatial information systems research group provides thought leadership and innovative spatial information system solutions in real-world settings to support decision-making. This research group builds bespoke systems, thereby creating operational cyber physical spatial information systems. The deployment of the National Oceans and Coastal Information Management Systems and the Marine and Coastal Operations for Southern Africa (an African Union commissioned project) showcases some of the group’s capabilities.

Value proposition

The group incorporates spatial-temporal domain expertise and multiple levels of user interaction, allowing for rapid deployment, customizable predictive analysis, dynamic visualisation and alerting to support local to global clients.
